escuela

Well I had my first day of class! I now have a ton of homework, but hey, at least I'm finishing my Spanish credits so quickly. I'm trying to work on it right now, but school is too funn. We have Spanish music playing loudly over the speakers, Venezuelans playing pool, and a barbeque cooking that smells delicious! I have to get going on it, though. We all plan on going out tonight.
We went out last night and it was so cool. We had a wonderful time. :)

getting settled.

Well...met my host family! They seem pretty nice. The dad is super well intentioned, but kinda forgetful. I like that, though. It fits with my flightiness. The apartment is very small, but I have my own bathroom. :) That is neat.
I have a beautiful view from my room! There is a ton of traffic noise, but I think I'll get used to it. I'd say that it is worth is just for how great it is to wake up to tropical mountains.
I'm currently at orientation for school, which is pretty relaxed. We are waiting for the cooks to make us lunch. :) The cutest little boy just asked me how I was. His spanish is far better than mine.

Merida

Just got into Merida, Venezuela! All is well :) A few things were stolen out of my suitcase while checked at the Caracas airport...but it's okay. They only took some reallllly cheap jewelry and $10 speakers. Life goes on.
So excited to finally be in South America!! The picture above is of part of the courtyard at my new school, VENUSA.

Miami

I'm in Miami, now :) Made it safely. I'll be leaving for Venezuela at 7 o'clock tomorrow morning. Dunno how long it will be until I'm online again, but I'll post as soon as I'm able :)

PS Miami has a special kind of humidity. I went outside and started melting, I'm pretty sure.

TOMS

Yay! I love my TOMS :) This girl, Kayla, at St. Thomas painted them for me. For those of you who are not familiar with TOMS, TOMS are modeled after South American house shoes and for every pair you purchase TOMS will donate a pair to a child in need. Cool, huh?
